The 14th EBA Consortium Open Seminar welcomes a speaker from Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman, from University of Malaya, Malaysia, to give a talk on “Green Manufacturing Industries”. EBA Consortium would like to express thanks to the host- University of Malaya and to the participants including those from:

  • University of Malaya (UM) Malaysia
  • Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia
  • University of the Philippines (UP), the Philippines
  • University of Chulalongkorn (CU), Thailand
  • Bangdung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia
  • Keio University (KEIO) – from 2 locations: SFC Campus and Hiyoshi Campus

The talk touches upon one of the pressing issues that every single country is facing: Global warming. In the face of this “becoming real” threat, “Greening” Approach which includes greening existing industries and creating more green industries in order to reduce the “carbon footprint” has become a must. For this to be done, the active participation of businesses and industries, in addition to the government and individuals,  plays the key role. Dr.Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman also presents some “small” approaches to yield practical results for “Green Industries”, e.g. reducing 1-2 hour processing time, installing induction heaters, applying new solar technologies to turn cold water into steam, producing “green” bottles, designing microwaved milk that can be heated in shortest time, to name a few.   All these solutions are “economically feasible” but “without sacrificing human values”. Above all, we need “collective will” to make this happen.
