EBA Support Program for Independent Fieldworks

We EBA are now calling for applicants (both undergraduate and graduate students from Keio University) for EBA Independent Fieldwork Program.

Fieldwork is one important content of Practical courses in EBA Curriculum program. In addition to designing fieldwork programs both in Japan and in ASEAN countries for students, EBA also extends our support to Independent Fieldworks designed by students from Keio University. Eligible candidates must prove their research interest in areas of “Energy and Environment”, “Health and Environment”, “Disaster and Security” and desire to conduct a fieldwork in ASEAN countries to pursuit their interest.

 Requirements to apply

–       An Application for EBA Independent Fieldwork Program (Application Form here EBA Independent fieldwork application for Keio students) with the main advisor’s approval.

–       Research Interests are in one of these areas: “Energy and Environment”, “Health and Environment”, “Disaster and Security”

–       Places to conduct fieldworks have to be in EBA partner countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Myanmar.

–       Period to conduct fieldworks:

1) For students who receive JASSO scholarships (check Benefits to Successful applicants): within March, 2016

2) For others: applicants can choose when to conduct fieldwork

–       Length of fieldworks: at least 8 days (not including traveling days)

Benefits to Successful applicants

–       For Japanese students: successful applicants are eligible for applying for JASSO scholarship (70,000 JPY) to support fieldwork activities. If applicants fail to receive the scholarship, EBA will support two-way air tickets (under 50,000 JPY).

–       For foreign students (at Keio): successful applicants will be supported with two-way air tickets (under 50,000 JPY).

–       Successful applicants can request for support from EBA local partner universities to prepare/conduct fieldwork, if needed.

–      Successful applicants can earn two credits after completing the fieldwork and meeting completion conditions.

Completion Conditions

Applicants have to

– submit a 800 word report to EBA committee (at  eba-submit@ml.keio.jp) two weeks after the proposed retuning date from the fieldwork.

– present fieldwork outcomes at EBA Open Seminar when requested.

Deadline for Application Submission: Jan 17th, 2016

Screening Result: Jan 22nd, 2016
