Research Training with NTT Data

Keio University together with NTT Data Corporation are now calling for participants for short-term research opportunity with Research and Development Headquarters of NTT Data Corporation (Japan).

Nowadays, traffic congestion has created a serious obstacle on economic growth around the world. This project aims to find out the innovative or suitable solution to solve traffic congestion issue, optimize traffic flow at the Asian major cities,  where traffic congestion has created a serious obstacle on economic growth.

Available positions 
  • Online research phase: up to 20 students (tentative)
  • Onsite research phase in Japan: 1 student (selected from online phase)
Requirements & Preferred skills

  • Independent worker: Able to operate, learn and solve problems without being prompted
  • Inquisitive: Able to identify problems and clarify own doubts
  • Technically Capable:
    • Development: At least intermediate coding skills in one of the following language:
      • Java, Python, Ruby, Javascript
    • DevOps: Students should propose their own Workflow.
      Here are some examples:

      • IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ, PyCharm, vim…)
      • Version Control (Git, SVN…)
      • Documentation
    • System Infrastructure:
      • Able to operate on Windows and Linux. (e.g. can work simple batch/bash scripts)
      • Able to understand networking (e.g. different layers, their protocols, client-server architecture)
Online research phase 2016/11/20~2017/01 [4~8 weeks]

  • Bi-Weekly meeting for progress report via videoconference from partner university
    (At least 2 times for interim and final presentation)
  • Weekly report submission (Every Sunday) via e-mail
  • Expected outcome: proposed solutions and mock demo application
    • e.g. Problem statement, Survey report (current state-of-the-art), key functions, demonstration, etc.
Onsite research phase in Japan* 2017/02~03 or 2017/06~08 [3~4 weeks]

Notes:

  • *  = Exact schedule to be confirmed with companies and selected students
  • Main language used in this project: ENGLISH

3. Eligibility

  • Students from partnering universities of  EBA Consortium and SOI Asia Project
  • Third year undergraduate level and above (Master’s course, Doctor’s course.are also welcomed)
  • Students who have research experience related to topic is preferable

    • Copy of transcript
    • Copy of English Proficiency test score (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or others) (If any)

  • Take logical communication test (URL for the test will be sent to those who submit application form and all required documents.)
    Please take the test before the application deadline.

5. FINANCIAL SUPPORTS

  • Two-way air ticket, accommodation, and travel insurance (only for official EBA activities) will be provided to successful candidates.
  • Other excluded expenses: 200-250 USD (weekly)
    • Daily meals and local transportation
    • Social and entertainment
    • Visa fee & Visa processing fee
